Spindale Revitalization

Building More Than Homes. Revitalizing a Community.

a comprehensive community revitalization effort bringing housing, education, economic opportunity, and neighborhood investment to spindale.

The Spindale Revitalization Project is a transformative neighborhood initiative led by Rutherford County Habitat for Humanity in partnership with local governments, community organizations, grant funders, donors, and residents.

Through strategic investment and collaboration, this effort is expanding affordable housing opportunities, preserving existing homes, and creating pathways to economic mobility for families throughout the community.

By combining new construction, home repairs, education programs, workforce development, and infrastructure investment, the project is helping create a stronger, more vibrant future for Spindale.

Investing in the future

A major milestone for the project was securing a $2.1 million infrastructure grant through a partnership with the Town of Spindale and the Foothills Regional Commission.

This investment will support infrastructure improvements necessary for the development of a future 43-acre mixed-income neighborhood, expanding housing opportunities for generations to come.

Removing Blight & Reclaiming Neighborhoods

  • Vacant and deteriorated properties can negatively impact entire communities. Through the Spindale Revitalization Project, Habitat has acquired and demolished 16 blighted properties, creating opportunities for new housing and neighborhood reinvestment.

a community-centered approach

The success of the Spindale Revitalization Project is built on collaboration and a commitment to reinvesting in local families.

Habitat prioritizes opportunities that strengthen the local economy and empower homeowners. For example, concrete work within the project has been completed by a Habitat homeowner-owned business, keeping investment within the community.

Together with our partners, we are creating:

  • Long-term neighborhood stabilization

  • Expanded access to affordable housing

  • Stronger local economic opportunities

  • Sustainable community growth

The Spindale Revitalization Project demonstrates what is possible when communities come together to invest in people, neighborhoods, and the future

Workforce Development: Pathways to Housing

In partnership with Isothermal Community College, Habitat is helping create pathways to economic mobility through construction certification training.

This initiative equips participants with valuable workforce skills that can lead to:

  • Higher wages

  • Stable employment

  • Career advancement opportunities

  • Increased ability to achieve homeownership

The Spindale Revitalization Project is about more than transforming properties—it’s about transforming possibilities. What started as an effort to address housing needs has evolved into a vision for a stronger, more connected community.

By investing in people, neighborhoods, and partnerships, we're creating lasting change that extends far beyond the walls of a home. Together, we're building opportunity, fostering stability, and laying the foundation for a thriving future for all who call Spindale home.
